Il avait 78 ans. Né à Montréal mle 4 mai 1928, il avait démarré sa carrière musicale à l'age de 13 ans, pour le "Canadian Broadcasting Company Orchestra". Pendant les années 40 il a joué avec de grosses pointures dont Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Barnett, Jimmy Dorsey et Stan Kenton. En 1945, âgé de 17 ans, il fonde son propre groupe. Maynard Ferguson a enregistré plus de 60 albums et reçu de nombreux prix, notamment pour son hit "Gonna Fly Now", figurant sur la bande son du film "Rocky" (Sylvester Stallone). Ferguson portait le surnom de "The Boss". Accompagné de son Big Bop Nouveau Band, il venait de terminer une tournée aux States et se préparait à débarquer à Tokyo.   DVD : "Rick Derringer - Live at Cheney Hall" Le chanteur et guitariste, Rick Derringer alias Richard Zehringer nous livre une compilation de ses meilleures chansons. Un DVD a regardé de toute urgence, sorti le 31 juillet dernier.
